Some brief overview of this book

Emma, by Jane Austen, is a novel about the perils of misconstrued romance. The novel was first published in December 1815. As in her other novels, Austen explores the concerns and difficulties of genteel women living in Georgian-Regency England; she also creates a lively comedy of manners among her characters.

Before she began the novel, Austen wrote, I am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like. In the very first sentence she introduces the title character as Emma Woodhouse, handsome, clever, and rich. Emma, however, is also rather spoiled; she greatly overestimates her own matchmaking abilities; and she is blind to the dangers of meddling in other peoples lives and is often mistaken about the meanings of others actions.

The book includes water colored illustrations by Charles Edmund Brock, active/navigable table of contents and free audiobook link for download (which can be downloaded using a PC/Mac) at the end of the book.

A few words about book author

Jane Austen

Jane Austens delightful, carefully wrought novels of manners remain surprisingly relevant, nearly 200 years after they were first published. Her novels — Pride and Prejudice and Emma among them — are those rare books that offer us a glimpse at the mores of a specific period while addressing the complexities of love, honor, and responsibility that still intrigue us today.
