hree children, Charlotte, Olivia, and Emma. When not writing she is hard-pressed to find a moments free time in between the millions of household chores, not to mention being a one-woman taxi service for her daughters never-ending social lives.

She derives inspiration from the hot, lazy, tropical island of Trinidad (where she was born), from the peaceful countryside of middle England and, of course, from her many friends, who are a rich source of plots and are particularly garrulous when it comes to describing Mills & Boon heroes. It would seem, from their complaints, that tall, dark, and charismatic men are way too few and far between!

Her hope is to continue writing romance fiction and providing those eternal tales of love for which, she feels, we all strive.

Christina Hollis was born a few miles from Georgian Bath in England. She has been writing from the moment she picked up a pencil and her first book was a few sentences about three puppies that lived in a basket. It was written at the age of three!

She left school at sixteen. Working as a gopher in the marketing department of a financial institution was an experience that opened her eyes to life outside of sleepy Somerset. She met her husband on a blind date and love at first sight led to marriage within months. When a play she wrote in her spare time was short-listed for a national award, her husband suggested she try writing full-time.

Over the next few years, Christina wrote half a dozen full-length novels, did a lot of non-fiction work for magazines and had two lovely children. In the year 2000, she joined a college course in creative writing to update her skills. It was tutored by the prize-winning Welsh poet Paul Groves, who suggested she try writing short stories. Various examples of these went on to be broadcast by the BBC and achieved success in several national competitions and magazines.

Christinas first modern romance, The Italian Billionaires Virgin, began life as a two-thousand-word holiday assignment for her writing course. Urged to send it to Mills and Boon by her fellow students, her thrill at being invited to send in a completed manuscript was only topped by the experience of receiving THE letter—acceptance! It arrived on her young sons birthday, making it a double celebration the family will never forget.

Christinas hobbies include cooking and gardening and she always has a book in hand. Romances are a favourite, as they are in such contrast with raising a family in a crumbling old cottage. Married to the most romantic man in the world, Christina enjoys every aspect of the subject. Romance can be as simple as a cup of tea in bed, but grand gestures such as a restaurant dinner add spice to the mix.

Christina thinks writing must be the best job in the world. There really is nothing like seeing the pictures in her head become words on a page. The chance to explore relationships and the way people overcome the problems that life throws at them means that there is always some new avenue to investigate.

Susan trained to be a professional opera singer at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, U.K. During this time she was also a member of the BBC Northern Singers, who were broadcast regularly on radio as well as appearing in concerts nationwide. Whilst at college she won the Elsie Paine award for singing on three consecutive occasions and was subsequently granted a scholarship to study opera at Trinity College, London.

Susan was then offered a contract with the DOyly Carte Opera Company, where she remained for two years, leaving to present the BBC childrens television program, Playschool. During this time Susan also appeared in pantomime and summer season, which led her to develop her own cabaret act.Indulging in her great love of travel, Susan enjoyed a season on the QE2 before, on a second visit to Malta, she met her husband, Steve. Susan gave birth to two of her children, Sara and James, whilst living in Malta, but a move back to the U.K. came when Sara was taken dangerously ill and rushed into hospital by powerboat ambulance during a family holiday to Venice. Susans first book, Help Me Mummy, I Cant Breathe, was written to share Saras experience with other parents and received favorable reviews in both The Lancet and Nursing Times. It was also adopted as teaching material at St James Hospital, Leeds, where the family settled. Susan gave many talks on the subject of coping with asthmatic children, culminating in a talk at Westminster Hall during celebrations of the Asthma Societys Diamond Jubilee.Susan had another little girl, Leonie, and when York University opened its crèche, the time seemed right to go back into education. Susan was awarded an MA in music, after which she began teaching full-time. She was appointed a magistrate on the Leeds bench and now sits in Stockport. She wrote three books for educational publisher Hodder & Stoughton, Teach Yourself Singing, Teach Yourself Opera and Teach Yourself Musicals.

The next move occurred when Steves work took him to Cheshire. After dinner at a Pride and Prejudice ball there was a charity auction. One of the lots on offer was Spend a Day with an Author, donated by Penny Jordan. Steve bought this lot for Susan and the rest is history.... Penny became not just a really great friend, but also a wonderful mentor whose encouragement led Susan to concentrate on writing romance for Harlequin Mills & Boon.

Anne Oliver was born in Adelaide, South Australia, where shes lived all her life. She has two adult children. She holds a B.Ed with a major in science and has worked in early childhood education for nearly thirty years.

Anne began writing in 1998 and is a member of the Romance Writers of America, the Romance Writers of Australia and the Romance Writers of New Zealand. She started entering writing contests in 1999 and was a finalist in several contests in the USA, Australia and New Zealand before being accepted by Harlequin Mills and Boon for their Modern Extra series in December 2005.

When not teaching or writing, Anne loves to escape into books. Eight years ago she began creating her own characters in paranormal and time-travel adventures before turning to writing contemporary romance. She reads all the Modern Heat books—which come out in Australia as Sexy Sensations—and enjoys the diversity of theme, characters and style, which is why she loves writing them.

In August 2007 she won the Romance Writers of Australias Romantic Book of the Year Award with her first Modern Extra novel, Behind Closed Doors…

Her other interests include animal welfare and conservation, quilting, astronomy, all things Scottish—and eating anything she doesnt have to cook. Shes traveled to Papua/New Guinea, the west coast of America, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the UK and Holland.

Sharing her characters journeys with readers all over the world is a privilege and a dream come true. You can visit her Web site.

A few words about book author

Cathy was born in the West Indies and has been writing Mills & Boon romances for some 11 years. She is a great believer in the power of perseverance as she had never written anything before (apart from school essays a lifetime ago!), and from the starting point of zero has now fulfilled her ambition to pursue this most enjoyable of careers. She would encourage any would-be writer to have faith and go for it!

She loves the beautiful Warwickshire countryside with her husband and three children, Charlotte, Olivia, and Emma. When not writing she is hard-pressed to find a moments free time in between the millions of household chores, not to mention being a one-woman taxi service for her daughters never-ending social lives.
