About book author

Fierro received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Davis, and a Ph. D. in Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He was awarded the Presidents Dissertation Year Fellowship while completing his Ph.

D. at UCSD, and the Presidents Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of California, Los Angeles, where he continued his research. He has been a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at California State University Ss present content, the ways that students learn content, and various ways that students can demonstrate procedural and conceptual understanding. The worked examples and homework questions provide prospective elementary school teachers with opportunities to develop mathematical knowledge, understanding, and skills that they can apply in their own classrooms effectively.
