Sam McQuade is currently an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. He teaches and conducts research in the areas of IT-enabled crime, technology in criminal justice and security management, and criminology.

Dr. McQuade has thirty years of experience as a criminal justice practitioner, teacher, and researcher. He is a former deputy sheriff, police officer, detective, and police organizational change consultant. He has alsominal activity. The text ties together various disciplines—information technology, the sociology/anthropology of cyberspace, computer security, deviance, law, criminal justice, risk management, and strategic thinking.
